New to dance and not sure what your kid is signing up for? Here’s the plain-English version of every style we teach. The names overlap a lot — especially Lyrical / Contemporary and Acro / Gymnastics — so we kept it simple.
The technical foundation under every other dance style. Strict posture, French terminology, barre work, turns, jumps. The placement, control, and discipline ballet teaches show up everywhere else.
Make music with your feet. Metal taps under the toe and heel; the dancer is part of the percussion. Builds rhythm, listening, and timing in ways no other style does.
Sharp, energetic, performance-forward. Isolations, leaps, turns, and choreography to upbeat music. Where ballet technique meets stage personality.
Ballet’s technique meets jazz’s freedom, choreographed to the lyrics of a song. Storytelling through long lines and emotion. The bridge style most teen dancers fall in love with.
Lyrical’s wilder cousin. Floor work, release technique, breath, weight-sharing. Choreography is more abstract and the music is broader — not always lyric-driven. Common at the competitive teen level.
Groove-based, born on the street, made for stage. Choreography to current music, age-appropriate selection. Big personality welcome — this is where shy kids often surprise themselves.
Apparatus-based: floor, beam, bars, vault. Three coaching stations per class so kids rotate through skills in small groups. Strength, flexibility, body awareness. Foundation for everything tumbling-related.
Acrobatics done in dance choreography. Cartwheels, walkovers, aerials, partner lifts — integrated into a piece, not done in isolation. The bridge between gymnastics and dance.
A dedicated tumbling class for dancers who want aerials, back handsprings, and tricks ready to use on stage. Levels by skill, not age. Always spotted, always safe.
